Weather conditions

The winter of 2016-2017 is very deficient in water. The first half of the season is cold, then it ends with very mild temperatures that favor early budding. The very beginning of spring remains mild and growth is active. On the nights of April 27 and 28, the temperature drops to -6°C in some areas, causing significant frost. 57% of Château Mazeyres’ plots are heavily damaged by this sudden climatic event. After this episode of loss, heat and drought last until the end of spring, causing severe water stress throughout the vineyard. From June 25, significant rains again significantly alter the climatic landscape. Summer stabilizes in a dry and cool climate. The veraison is early and rapid. The early September rains, welcome in this context, allow for the complete maturity of the skins.

Tasting

The color is beautiful and clear.
The nose is juicy and fresh with intense notes of black fruits.
The very expressive dimension of the fruit continues on the palate, then evolves towards notes of roasting. The texture is smooth and supple, held by a refreshing tension. The finish is long and refined.
